WHAT WE DO

We are a residential architecture & development practice with a focus on environmentally and socially responsible restoration and renovation projects.

“The greenest building is the one that already exists”

—Carl Elefante, former president of the American Institute of Architects

PHILOSOPHY

The blk|dr mission is to invest in the adaptive reuse, preservation and restoration of existing structures that have weathered the turn of centuries with the durability of time-tested construction materials and methods by introducing modern materials and technology that will improve energy efficiency throughout.

We pair the accessible luxury of modern technology that facilitates how we engage with our homes and the ultimate accessible luxuries of light, ventilation, plant material, and more that are centered in passive, sustainable, and well design methods.

We believe in the value of collaborative exchange and solution-oriented thinking. These values in our process are reflected in the ingenuity and success of the finished product.

We understand that each house is a home and stands as part of a greater community. Our goal is to ensure the homes we provide are accessible to and reflect the best image of the surrounding community. This, too, is done with collaboration.
